MOVING INTO 2026 WITH REEDSY, WITH GRATITUDE
As I enter a new year continuing my professional work in children’s picture books,
Reedsy continues to provide me with a rewarding creative experience helping
aspiring picture book authors and illustrators. Over the past 6-plus years, I have
“met” and guided several hundred authors from around the globe. I continue to
enjoy the results as my authors bring them successfully to publication, either
traditionally or via the self-publishing route. Hardly a day passes when I don’t receive
several new inquires re new projects and editorial challenges. Sometimes it’s hard
to keep up!
2025 debuted several amazing, beautiful new picture books with my guidance, including
Matthew Bell’s, Fate And The Way Of The Forest, showcasing exquisite illustrations by Alice Wong.
It’s always a privilege to present new self-published titles to the buyers at my local independent
CO bookstore, The BookWorm of Edwards, if I receive a review copy from the author.
Reedsy’s services and team support is exceptional and continues to expand. The website performs
seamlessly. The Reedsy team is available to help with financial questions or other matters
with client relationships.
I am especially thanksful for Reedsy’s official “stance” re using AI in the creative process.
Although AI has some useful applications, personally I am disturbed by its excessive use
in the development of “original” material. It dilutes the integrity of a writer’s voice and
imagination. I commend Reedsy for adding a specific check-line item to our completion
of an offer to indicate whether, as professionals, we will engage AI in our author feedback.
My response is an emphatic 100% ... NO.
Moving forward, I continue to recommend Reedsy as a highly reputable editing resource.
This dynamic company has proven itself to me and other quality freelancers involved. I’m
looking forward to a new variety of picture books proposals to come my way in 2026.
Thank you!
